A wine obtained from the grapes of Frappato di Vittoria and Nero d'Avola.
The cerasuolo di Vittoria obtained the Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin in September 2005. It's the first and unique sicilian D.O.C.G.. The percentage of Frappato varies from 30% to 50% and the percentage of Nero d'Avola variesfrom 50% to 70%.
The zone of production includes the entire territory of the municipalities of Vittoria, Comiso, Acate and Santa Croce Camerina, portions of the municipal territories of Niscemi, Gela, Caltagirone, Licodia Eubea, Riesi, Butera, Mazzarino and Mazzarrone.
The maximum yield in wine must not be superior to 52 hectoliters/hectare. The wine must be cherry-red in colour. The smell must be from floral to fruity and when wine matures his smell can tend to dried prune notes, chocolate, leather and tobacco.
The taste is dry, full, harmonic and soft. The minimum alcoholic content is 13% vol.
